Mission: Address threats produced by the 2 major species of malaria, Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv), by evaluating:

• new or improved vaccines
• prophylactic and therapeutic drugs
• rapid diagnostics

and by focusing on the basic biology and epidemiology of drug resistant malaria.

Secondly, assess emerging febrile diseases throughout high risk regions of SE Asia
